Our Story
The Sparrow's Table began in a place I never expected, during a season when I didn't fully understand where God was leading me.
It started with a job that brought me into Lancaster City, Pennsylvania. At first, I wasn't grateful for where I had been placed. I questioned why I had to be there and saw it as an inconvenience rather than an opportunity.
But looking back, I realize that sometimes the places we resist the most are the very places God uses to open our eyes.
One day, while driving through Lancaster City, a thought came over me. It didn't feel like just another passing thought. It felt like a calling, a conviction placed so heavily on my heart that I couldn't simply ignore it.
It wasn't something I had planned or prepared for. It was something I felt God was asking of me. Suddenly, the place I had been so ungrateful to be in began to hold a much greater purpose.
I had been looking at my circumstances through my own eyes, focusing on where I didn't want to be rather than asking God what He wanted me to see. What I once considered an inconvenience, I now see as an opportunity to serve.
And that is where The Sparrow's Table began.
The name is inspired by Matthew 10:29–31, a reminder that even the smallest sparrow is not forgotten by our Heavenly Father. If God sees the sparrows, how much more does He see the people who feel overlooked, forgotten, or alone?
My desire is not to build something for recognition or limit this outreach to one city. My desire is to follow wherever God leads, serve whoever He places in my path, and offer kindness with a willing heart.
I don't know everywhere this journey will take me or how big or small this outreach will become. But I believe that sometimes God places us somewhere not for our own comfort, but for His greater purpose.
What began as an unwanted destination became the beginning of something meaningful.
My prayer is that The Sparrow's Table remains a place where kindness is freely given, compassion is planted, and every soul is reminded that they are seen and loved.
